PROJECT Y.E.A. (Youth Empowered by Abstinence) is designed to educate and encourage teens to live healthier lifestyles in a supportive environment while empowering parents with the knowledge and practical skills necessary to communicate hope to their children.


GOALS:

  • To promote abstinence until marriage and abstinence from all forms of risky behavior.
  • To decrease the pregnancy and STD rates amongst Los Angeles County teens.
  • To empower teens with self-sufficiency skills.
  • To establish a community of caring parents and adults that will promote culturally sensitive, age appropriate abstinence intervention.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES:

  • 80% of program participants will understand that abstinence until marriage is the only way to avoid out of wedlock pregnancies, STDs and the social, psychological
    and emotional consequences of premature sex.
  • Create an environment that supports healthy relationships and the standard that abstinence until marriage is the expected norm for all school age youths and young adults.
  • Caregivers will demonstrate a 25% increase in their communication skills with their children concerning the benefits of abstinence.
